and the dogs would come and lick them. Lazarus would have been happy just to eat what fell from the rich man’s table.
“That’s true, Lord,” she said, “but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their owner’s table.”
I’ve worked very hard and often gone without sleep. I’ve been hungry and thirsty and gone without food; I’ve been cold and lacked clothes.
We’re still hungry and thirsty, dressed in rags, homeless, and treated badly.
When everyone had enough to eat, Jesus told his disciples, “Collect the leftover pieces. Let’s not waste anything.”
