I saw the dead, both great and small, standing in front of the throne. Books were opened, and then another book was opened, which was the book of life. The dead were judged by what they’d done, which had been recorded in the books.

Each of you has received a gift that you can use to serve others. You should use it as something that God has trusted you with. These gifts come in many forms.

But they’ll have to explain their actions to God, who’s ready to judge the living and the dead.

The sins of some people are easy to see. They’re already being judged. Others will be judged later.

Don’t fail to use the gift that the Holy Spirit gave you through a prophecy from God when the elders placed their hands on you.

We must all stand before Christ to be judged, and then each of us will receive what we deserve for the things we did while we were in our bodies, whether they were good or bad.

So don’t judge anything before the appointed time. Wait until the Lord returns, and he will bring what’s now hidden in the dark out into the light. He’ll show the real reasons why people do what they do. At that time God will give each person the praise they deserve.

Those who’ve been trusted with something must show that they’re dependable.

My brothers and sisters, I say this because some people from Chloe’s family have told me that you’re arguing with one another.

So we will all have to answer to God for the things we’ve done.

The Lord answered, “Suppose a master gives one of his servants the job of giving the other servants their food at the right time, as a faithful and wise manager.

“But God said to him, ‘You foolish man! Tonight, you are going to die. And then who will to get all the things you collected for yourself?’

I tell you that everyone will have to account on judgment day for every word they’ve spoken that hasn’t done any good.

“When evening came, the manager of the vineyard told his foreman, ‘Call the workers in and give them their pay. Begin with the ones I hired last and end with the ones I hired first.’

Jesus told his disciples another story. He said, “There was a rich man whose manager was accused of wasting what the rich man owned.

“The manager said to himself, ‘What am I going to do now? My master is taking away my job. I’m not strong enough to dig, and I’m too ashamed to beg.
