So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on.

“Meanwhile the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing.

‘Your brother has come home,’ the servant replied. ‘Your father has killed the fattened calf because he’s back safe and sound.’

The man heard the crowd going by and asked what was happening.

They were amazed and didn’t understand how this could be. They asked one another, “What does this mean?”
