“The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Quick! Go into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor and those who can’t see or walk.’

Don’t forget to welcome strangers. By doing that, some people have welcomed angels without knowing it.

So the slaves went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good. Soon the wedding hall was filled with guests.

and she must be well known for doing good things such as bringing up children, inviting guests into her home, serving the Lord’s people in humble ways, and helping those in trouble. A widow should spend her time doing all kinds of good things like these.

But a leader must have a good reputation. He must be faithful to his wife. He must be restrained, self-controlled, and worthy of respect. He must welcome people into his home, and he must be able to teach.

Instead, a church leader must welcome people into his home. He must love what is good and be self-controlled, decent, holy, and disciplined.

Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, my brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.

Peter came with them and when he arrived, he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothes Dorcas had made for them while she was alive.

But if you show that you’re generous on the inside by giving freely to the poor, then everything will be clean for you.

Large crowds came to him, bringing people who were blind, who couldn’t walk, who were disabled, who couldn’t speak, and many others. They laid them at his feet, and he healed them. Those who couldn’t speak started speaking, those with disabilities were made well, those who couldn’t walk started walking, and those who were blind became able to see.

Then Jesus spoke to his host. “When you give a lunch or a dinner, don’t invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors. If you do, they may invite you to eat with them in return and you will be paid back.

Then you will be blessed. Your guests won’t be able to pay you back, but you will be paid back when those who are right with God are raised from the dead.”
