The Lord responded, “You’re such hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you go to the barn and untie your ox or donkey on the Sabbath day, and don’t you then lead it out and give it water?
He asked them another question. He said, “If you had a child or an ox that fell into a well on the Sabbath day, wouldn’t you pull them out right away?”
During that time, when a crowd of so many thousands had gathered that the people were stepping on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples. He said, “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. They just pretend to be godly.
While there is a log in your own eye, how can you say to your friend, ‘Let me take the bit of sawdust out of your eye’? Hypocrite! First take the piece of wood out of your own eye, and then you’ll be able to see clearly to take the bit of sawdust out of your friend’s eye.
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees! You hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You don’t enter yourselves, but you won’t let in other people who are trying to enter.
