So sell what you own and give to the poor. That will be like putting your money in a bag that will never wear out. Store up your riches in heaven, where they can never be used up, where no thief can get near them and no moth can destroy them.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is to take care of widows and orphans who are in trouble and not let the world contaminate you.

To people who are pure, all things are pure. But to those who have twisted minds and don’t believe, nothing is pure. Their minds and consciences are corrupted.

Don’t forget to do good and share with others, because God is pleased with offerings like those.

The voice spoke to him a second time and said, “Don’t say something isn’t pure if God has made it clean.”

I tell you, use the riches of this world to make friends for yourselves. Then when your riches are gone, you will be welcomed into an eternal home.

God isn’t unfair. He won’t forget what you’ve done and the love you’ve shown him as you’ve helped his people and as you keep on helping them.

Do you really want to give? Then your gift will be measured by what you have, not by what you don’t.

But at dinner, Zacchaeus stood up and said, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of what I own to the poor. And if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount I took.”

When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You are still missing one thing. Sell everything you have, give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me.”

If a person asks you for something, give it to them, and if a person wants to borrow something from you, let them borrow it.

Anyone who used to steal must never steal again. Instead, they should work, doing something useful with their own hands, so that they will have something to share with people in need.

The disciples decided to send help to the brothers and sisters living in Judea. All of them gave as much as they could,

You’ll always have the poor with you. But you won’t always have me.

“I’d been away from Jerusalem for several years, but recently I came back to offer sacrifices and to bring some gifts for Jewish people who are poor.

It doesn’t go into their heart, but into their stomach, and then it passes right back out of the body.” This meant that all foods were clean.
