“Master,” John said, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him because he wasn’t one of us.”

We know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are governed by the law. Its purpose is to silence every excuse and hold the whole world accountable to God.

“His master replied, ‘I will judge you by your own words, you worthless slave! So you knew that I’m a hard man? You knew that I take out what I didn’t put in and that I harvest what I didn’t plant?

News about him spread all over Syria, and they brought him everyone who was ill with any kind of sicknesses. Some were suffering great pain, while others were controlled by demons. Some were shaking wildly, and others couldn’t move at all. Jesus healed every one of them.

It’s enough for students to be like their teachers and for slaves to be like their masters. If the head of the household has been called Beelzebul, the prince of demons, what should the others who live in the house expect to be called?

Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus to set free those who were controlled by demons. They said, “In the name of the Jesus that Paul is preaching about, I command you to come out.”
