I tell you, many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. They wanted to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it.”
All of these people were still living by faith when they died. They didn’t receive the things God had promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a long way off. They admitted that they were outsiders and strangers on earth.

All these people were honored for their faith, but none of them received what God had promised.
