They brought the man who’d been blind to the Pharisees.
However, many did believe in him, even among the Jewish leaders. But because of the Pharisees, they wouldn’t admit openly that they believed. They were afraid that they’d be thrown out of the synagogue.
The chief priests and Pharisees had ordered that anyone who found out where Jesus was staying had to report it so they could arrest him.
So the Pharisees said to one another, “Look, we aren’t getting anywhere. See how the whole world is following him!”
“Where is that man?” they asked. “I don’t know,” he said.
(Jesus had made the mud and restored the man’s sight on a Sabbath day.)
