He bent down again and wrote on the ground.
When they kept on asking him questions, he stood up and said to them, “If any of you has never sinned, he can be the first to throw a stone at her.”
Those who heard what he had said began to go away one at a time. The older ones left first, and then the younger ones. Finally, only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.
