His parents said that because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who had already decided that anyone who said Jesus was the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue.
Afterwards, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for Jesus’ body. Joseph was a follower of Jesus, but secretly, because he was afraid of the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, Joseph came and took the body away.
On the evening of that first day of the week, the disciples were gathered together. They had locked the doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Jesus came in and stood among them. He said, “May peace be with you!”

After this, Jesus traveled around in Galilee. He didn’t want to travel around in Judea because the Jewish leaders there were looking for a way to kill him.
