Jesus answered, “You give them something to eat.” The disciples replied, “All we have is five loaves of bread and two fish—unless you want us to go out and buy food for all these people!”

“How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Go and see.” When they found out, they told him, “Five loaves, and two fish.”

“We only have five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.

Don’t you understand yet? Don’t you remember the five loaves that fed the 5,000, and how many full baskets of leftover pieces you picked up?

When I broke the five loaves for the 5,000, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” “Twelve,” they answered.

You know how generous our Lord Jesus Christ was. Even though he was rich, he became poor for your sake, so that because he became poor, you would become rich.

When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and she saw him, she knelt down in front of him. “Lord,” she said, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”

Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

Philip answered, “We’d have to spend more than half a year’s pay to buy enough bread for each person to have just a bite!”

Jesus took the loaves and gave thanks, and then they were distributed to the people where they sat. He did the same with the fish. They gave out as much as each person wanted.

When they landed, they saw a fire there with fish on it. There was also some bread.

Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you just caught.”

Jesus came, took the bread, and gave it to them. He did the same thing with the fish.
