The Holy Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the person who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come and take the free gift of the water of life.

Then the Jews there began to complain about Jesus because he’d said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.”

‘They won’t ever be hungry again, and they won’t ever be thirsty again. The sun won’t beat down on them,’ and the heat of the desert won’t harm them.

Everyone the Father gives me will come to me, and I’ll never turn any of them away.

“Come to me, all you who are tired and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.

Woe to you who are well fed now! You will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now! You will cry and be sad.

He went on to say, “That’s why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father grants that.”

But you still refuse to come to me and receive life.

The woman said to him, “Sir, give me that water so that I won’t get thirsty and I won’t have to keep coming here to get water!”
