Truly I tell you, a time is coming—and in fact, it has already come—when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear it will live.

That’s why it’s said, “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

So he gave us new life because of what Christ has done, even when we were dead in our sins. God’s grace has saved you.

But a time is coming—in fact, it’s already here—when true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth. Those are the kind of worshipers the Father is looking for.

“Write this to the angel of the church in Sardis: These are the words of the one who holds the seven spirits of God and has the seven stars in his hand. ‘I know what you’ve been doing. You have a reputation for being alive, but you’re dead.

Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you don’t hear is that you don’t belong to God.”

At one time you were dead in your sins, and your wrong desires were not circumcised. But God gave you new life together with Christ. He forgave us all our sins

When you were living in your sins and the wrong things you were doing, you were actually dead.

By being baptized, we were buried with Christ and joined him in death. But Christ has been raised from the dead by the Father’s glory, and like Christ we too can live a new life.

Why can’t you understand what I’m saying? Because you can’t really hear it.

The Father raises the dead and gives them life; in the same way, the Son gives life to anyone he wishes.

because this son of mine was dead, but now he’s alive. He was lost, but now he has been found.’ So they began to celebrate.

Jesus said to him, “Let those who are dead bury their own dead; you go and tell others about God’s kingdom.”

Jesus said, “Woman, believe me, a time is coming when you won’t worship the Father either on this mountain or in Jerusalem.

But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead, but now he’s alive again; he was lost, but now he has been found.’ ”

After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed, “Father, the time has come. Bring glory to your Son so that your Son may bring glory to you.

It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Jesus had always loved his disciples who were in the world, and he now loved them to the very end.

Many of Jesus’ disciples said when they heard this, “This is an unpleasant message. Who can accept it?”

He answered, “I’ve already told you, but you didn’t listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples too?”
