I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the founders of our nation would be confirmed.

The people came to him and asked him to stay with them, so he stayed for two days.

Though he had grown up in Nazareth, he went to live in the city of Capernaum. That was by the lake, in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali.

Jesus went again to Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. A royal official was there whose son was sick in bed at Capernaum.

Andrew brought Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You’re Simon, the son of John, but you’ll be known as Cephas.” (Cephas means Peter, or Rock.)

(He himself had pointed out that a prophet isn’t respected in his own country.)
