Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in Jesus because of what the woman said about him: “He told me everything I’ve ever done.”
“Come and see a man who told me everything I’ve ever done. Could this be the Messiah?”
He came to a town there called Sychar, near the piece of land Jacob had given his son Joseph.
Many of the Jews who’d come to visit Mary saw what Jesus did, and they believed in him.
They told the woman, “At first we believed because of what you said. But now we’ve heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”
Jesus sent these 12 out with the following orders. “Don’t go among the Gentiles and don’t enter any town where the Samaritans live.
(His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)
The people came out from the town and made their way toward Jesus.
I’m sending you to gather what you haven’t worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you’re going to gather the benefits of their work.”
The people came to him and asked him to stay with them, so he stayed for two days.
When the two disciples heard him say that, they followed Jesus.
