I haven’t come down from heaven to do my own will; I’ve come to do the will of the one who sent me.

I can do nothing by myself. I judge only as I hear, and I judge fairly, because I don’t try to please myself. I try to please the one who sent me.

I’ve brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.

After Jesus drank it, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and died.

He went off a little distance and got down on the ground face first. He prayed, “My Father, if possible, please take this cup of suffering away from me. But let your will be done, not mine.”

And let’s keep looking to Jesus. He’s the one who leads us into faith and the one who makes our faith mature. Because of the joy he was looking forward to, he didn’t let the shame of being put to death on a cross stop him. He suffered on the cross, and then he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

I tell you, it’s the same in heaven. There’s celebration in heaven over one sinner who turns away from sin.”

In everything I did, I showed you that we must work hard and help the weak. We must remember the words of the Lord Jesus, who said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

The bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

Jesus answered, “Please agree to this. It’s right for us to do everything that God is asking of people now.” So then John agreed.

“Why were you looking for me?” he replied. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”

The one who sent me is with me. He hasn’t left me alone, because I always do what pleases him.”

Later, when Jesus knew that everything had now been finished, so that Scripture would come true, he said, “I’m thirsty.”

Jesus got up and went with him. His disciples came along too.
