But he had to ask them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” “No,” they answered. “We haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in languages they’d never learned. The Spirit gave them the ability to do this.

When he said this, he was referring to the Holy Spirit. Those who believed in Jesus would later receive the Spirit. But at that time, the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus hadn’t been glorified yet.

I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by keeping the law, or by believing what you heard?

Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of the people!

Jesus said again, “May peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I’m sending you.”

If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven. If you don’t forgive them, those sins not forgiven.”
