Then he taught them, saying, “It is written that the Lord said, ‘My house will be called a house where people from all nations can pray.’ But you’ve made it a ‘den for robbers.’ ”
These teachers will be so greedy that they’ll make up stories to take advantage of you. But they’ve been under a sentence of death for a long time. Their destruction has not been sleeping.
It causes trouble all the time between people whose minds are twisted by sin. They once knew the truth, but it has been taken away from them. They think they can get rich by being godly.
Jesus told her, “Don’t hold on to me, because I haven’t ascended to the Father yet. Instead, go to those who believe in me and tell them, ‘I’m ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”
Jesus entered the temple courtyard and began to drive out all those who were buying and selling there. He turned over the tables of the people who exchanged money and the benches of those who sold doves.
Jesus made a whip out of ropes and chased everyone out of the temple courtyard with their sheep and cattle. He scattered the coins of the people who were exchanging money, and he flipped their tables over.
