Annas sent him, still tied up, to Caiaphas the high priest.

He didn’t say this on his own. Rather, as the high priest that year, he was prophesying that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation—

during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, God’s word came to John, the son of Zechariah, in the desert.

Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas, the high priest. The teachers of the law and the elders had already gathered in his palace.

Then the chief priests and elders of the people met in the palace of Caiaphas, the high priest.

Annas, the high priest, was there, along with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and other members of the high priest’s family.

Then one of them named Caiaphas spoke up. He was the high priest that year. He said, “You don’t know anything at all!

Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning. The Jewish leaders didn’t enter the palace, because they didn’t want to be made unclean. They wanted to be able to eat the Passover meal. So

Jesus answered, “You wouldn’t have any power over me if it hadn’t been given to you from heaven. So the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.”
