But the Father will send the Helper or Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, in my name to help you. The Spirit will teach you all things and remind you of everything I’ve said to you.
“From the Father, I’m going to send you the Helper, the Spirit of truth, who comes out from the Father. When the Helper arrives, he’ll be a witness about me.
Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. The church respected and obeyed the Lord and was encouraged by the Holy Spirit, and it grew even larger.
My dear children, I’m writing this to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, then we have a friend who speaks to the Father for us. He’s Jesus Christ, the Blameless One
But anyone who drinks the water I give them will never get thirsty. In fact, the water I give them will become a spring of water inside them bubbling up into eternal life.”
If belonging to Christ helps you, if his love comforts you, if you share anything in common because of the Holy Spirit, if Christ has been gentle and loving toward you,
That’s the way it will be with you. Now is a time of sadness for you, but I will see you again. Then you’ll be full of joy, and no one will take your joy away.
May our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father encourage your hearts and make you strong in every good thing that you do and say. God loved us and by his grace he has given us good hope and encouragement that will last forever.
When he said this, he was referring to the Holy Spirit. Those who believed in Jesus would later receive the Spirit. But at that time, the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus hadn’t been glorified yet.
One day when Jesus was eating with his apostles, he told them, “Don’t leave Jerusalem, but wait for what my Father promised, what you’ve heard me talk about.
But you have the Holy Spirit flowing over you, and the Spirit continues to live in you. So you don’t need anyone to teach you. The Spirit teaches you about everything, and his presence in you is real, not fake. So remain in Christ, just as you’ve been taught.
