“No,” said Peter, “I’ll never let you wash my feet.” Jesus responded, “Unless I wash them, you can’t be part of what I’m doing.”

he saved us, not because of any good things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us by washing away our sins so that we were born again.

So what are you waiting for? Get up and call on his name. Be baptized and have your sins washed away.’

So let’s draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings. Our hearts have been sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

He did this to make her holy, washing her with water through the word.

Some of you used to do things like that. But you were washed and made holy and right with God in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

I answered, “Sir, you know.” He said, “They’re the ones who’ve come out of the time of terrible suffering. They’ve washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the first to rise from the dead, the ruler over the kings of the earth. Jesus loves us and has set us free from our sins by his blood.

It’s true that these rules seem to make sense. They lead people to have a regular schedule of worship, at least to act as if they’re humble, and to be severe with their bodies. But these rules don’t do anything to stop people from giving in to their wrong desires.

Some people pretend to be humble, and they worship angels. But don’t let people like that judge you. These people tell you in great detail about the visions they’ve seen, and they’re conceited because of all the ideas they have. But their ideas are really useless, because their minds aren’t guided by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus answered, “Truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they’re born of water and the Spirit.

Peter replied, “Even if all the others abandon you, I never will.”

“ ‘I won’t,’ the son answered. But later he changed his mind and went.

But Peter insisted, “Even if I have to die with you, I’ll never say that I don’t know you.” And all the other disciples said the same thing.

Peter took Jesus to one side and began to berate him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “That will never happen to you!”

When he got to Simon Peter, Peter said, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”

“Then not just my feet, Lord,” Simon Peter replied. “Wash my hands and my head too!”
