When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home.

Jesus stopped and said, “Call for him.” So they called out to the blind man, “You got what you wanted! Get on your feet! Jesus is calling for you.”

Then the disciple Jesus loved said to Simon Peter, “It’s the Lord!” As soon as Peter heard that, he put his shirt back on (he’d taken it off to work) and jumped into the water.

The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name, and he leads them out.

So if your hands are weak, make them strong. If your legs won’t hold you up, then strengthen them too.

So encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

When Mary heard this, she got up quickly and went out to meet him.

Jesus hadn’t yet entered the village; he was still at the place where Martha had met him.
