Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We’ve found the one Moses wrote about in the Law. The prophets wrote about him too. It’s Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

Jesus explained to them what was said about himself in all the Scriptures, beginning with Moses and all the Prophets.

There he lived in a town called Nazareth. The prophets had said that Jesus would be called a Nazarene, and in this way their words came true.

Jesus said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you. Everything that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must come true.”

Everyone said good things about him. They were amazed at the gracious words they heard from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.

He asked them again, “Who are you looking for?” “Jesus of Nazareth,” they answered.

Isn’t he Mary’s son? Isn’t he the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon? And aren’t his sisters here with us?” They didn’t think he really was who he seemed to be.

The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

“ ‘Who are you, Lord?’ I asked. “ ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth,’ he replied. ‘I’m the one you’ve been attacking.’

You know how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were under the devil’s power, because God was with him.

Simon Peter and Thomas (who was also called Didymus) were there together with Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the two sons of Zebedee, and two more disciples.

Because Joseph was from the family line of David, he went from Nazareth in Galilee to Judea so he could register there in Bethlehem, the town of David.

and when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him closely. “You were also with Jesus, that Nazarene,” she said.

Isn’t he the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas his brothers?

“I used to think I should do everything I could to oppose the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold, but I will give you what I do have. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!”

“Fellow Israelites, listen to this! God showed his approval of the man Jesus of Nazareth by doing miracles, wonders, and signs among you through him. You all know this well.

Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read, Jesus of nazareth, the king of the jews.

“Jesus of Nazareth,” they answered. “That’s me,” Jesus said. Judas, who was going to hand Jesus over, was standing there with them.

They asked, “Isn’t this Jesus—Joseph’s son? We know who his father and mother are. So how can he now claim, ‘I came down from heaven’?”

Jesus was about 30 years old when he began his ministry. He was considered to be the son of Joseph. Joseph was the son of Heli.

Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;

When his parents saw him, they were shocked. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been worried about you. We’ve been looking for you everywhere.”

Philip was from the town of Bethsaida, like Andrew and Peter.

When Jesus looked up and saw a large crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where can we buy bread for all these people to eat?”

Philip answered, “We’d have to spend more than half a year’s pay to buy enough bread for each person to have just a bite!”

They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, to ask for a favor. “Sir,” they said, “we’d like to meet Jesus.”

Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”

They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”
