This all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan River, where John was baptizing.
Then Jesus went back across the Jordan River to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days. He stayed there
John was also baptizing, at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water there and people were coming to be baptized.
The disciples came to John and said, “Rabbi, everyone is going to that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan River. You were a witness about who he was, and now he’s here baptizing people.”
“Why wasn’t this perfume sold so that the money could be given to the poor? It was worth a year’s pay!”
The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. He found Philip and told him, “Follow me.”
