You want something, but you don’t have it, so you kill. You want what others have, but you can’t get what you want, so you argue and fight. You don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God.

Here is the part of Scripture that the official was reading: “He was led like a sheep to be killed. Just as lambs are silent while their wool is being cut off, he did not open his mouth.

But I tell you not to retaliate against someone who treats you poorly. Suppose someone slaps you on your right cheek. Then turn your other cheek to them as well.

And, “The one who’s right with God will live by faith. But I’m not pleased with the one who pulls back.”

But you haven’t treated poor people with respect. Isn’t it the rich who take advantage of you? Aren’t they the ones who drag you into court?

But the chief priests and the elders talked the crowd into asking Pilate to set Barabbas free and put Jesus to death.

“But when the renters saw the son coming, they said to one another, ‘He’s supposed to inherit all the owner’s property someday. Come on, let’s kill him, and then everything will be ours.’

Scripture says, “If it’s hard for people who are living right to be saved, then what will happen to ungodly people and sinners?”
