As you know, we consider people blessed who don’t give up. You’ve heard that Job was patient, and you’ve seen what the Lord finally did for him. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

Blessed is the person who keeps going when times are difficult. After they’ve made it through these times, they’ll receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to give to those who love him.

Everyone will hate you because of me. But anyone who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Since all of this is true, then the Lord knows how to save godly people and keep them safe in times of testing. But he also knows how to keep ungodly people under guard until the day they will be judged and punished.

So make sure your minds stay alert and completely sober. Put your hope in the grace that will be brought to you when Jesus Christ returns.

Show mercy to others, just as your Father shows mercy.

We’re not among the people who pull back and are destroyed. We’re among the people who have faith and are saved.

We have come to share in Christ, but we need to maintain right to the end the confidence we started with.

But God loves us deeply, and he is full of mercy.

But Christ is faithful over God’s house as his Son. And we are his house, if we hold tightly to our courage and the hope we boast about.

All these things make us want to praise the glorious grace that God has given us freely in the One he loves.

Aren’t you showing disrespect for God’s great kindness, favor, and patience? Don’t you realize that God’s kindness is meant to turn you away from your sins?

He shows mercy to all those who respect him, from parent to child down through the generations.

My brothers and sisters, think of it as pure joy when you face all kinds of trouble.

But if you suffer for doing what’s right, even then you’ll be blessed. Scripture says, “Don’t fear their threats and don’t be afraid.”

For everyone who asks will receive, the one who searches will find, and the door will be opened to the one who knocks.
