The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow are sprinkled on people the law calls unclean in order to make them holy. Then they’re considered clean on the outside.
Moses first announced every command of the law to all the people. Then he took the blood of calves, together with water, bright red wool, and branches from a hyssop plant, and he sprinkled the Book of the Covenant and all the people.
But wouldn’t people deserve even more punishment if they’ve trampled the Son of God under their feet, treated the blood of the covenant as unholy, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
