So let’s move on beyond the basic teachings about Christ and grow up as believers. Let’s not start all over from the beginning. We already know that we need to turn away from doing things that lead to death. We know that we must have faith in God.

So how much cleaner will the blood of Christ make us! He offered himself to God without any flaw through the power of the eternal Holy Spirit. His blood washes away our feelings of guilt for committing sin. Sin always leads to death. But now we can serve the living God.

Dear friends, since we have these promises from God, let’s purify ourselves from everything that could make our bodies and spirits impure. Let’s be completely holy, to honor God.

I preached first to the people in Damascus, and then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and then to the Gentiles. I told them to give up their sins and turn to God and to show they’d done this by the way they lived.

“Make level paths for your feet to walk on.” Then those who have trouble walking will be healed, and they won’t have difficulty anymore.

John came to show you the right way, and you didn’t believe him. But the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. Even when you saw that, you didn’t turn away from your sins and believe him.

If the priests who came from Levi’s family could have made the people perfect by what they did at the temple, then why would another priest have to come who wasn’t in the order of Aaron, but in the order of Melchizedek? The law that was given to the people said that priests had to come from Levi’s family line.

Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me doesn’t believe only in me, but also in the one who sent me.

“Truly I tell you, whoever who hears my word and believes in the one who sent me has eternal life. They will not be judged, because they have crossed over from death into life.

He said, “Turn away from your sins! The kingdom of heaven is near.”

Without question, true godliness comes from this great mystery: Jesus came as a human being, and he was declared right with God by the Holy Spirit. He was seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and taken up in glory.

Godly sadness causes us to turn away from our sins and be saved. And we’re certainly not sorry about that! But worldly sadness brings death.

But God’s solid foundation stands firm, with this message written on it: “The Lord knows who his own people are.” Also, “All those who say that they believe in the Lord must stop doing wrong.”

I told both Jews and Greeks that they had to turn away from their sins to God and have faith in our Lord Jesus.

When they heard this, they didn’t question or criticize Peter any longer. Instead, they praised God and said, “So then, God has allowed even Gentiles to turn away from their sins and find life!”

So turn away from your sins and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped away. Then the time will come when the Lord makes everything new.

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe in me too.

They went out and preached that people should turn away from their sins.

Here begins the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God.

From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Turn away from your sins, because the kingdom of heaven is near.”

No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is made complete in us.

Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory. So your faith and hope are in God.

You must allow endurance to finish its work so that you’ll be everything you should be and have everything you need.

Without faith it’s impossible to please God, because those who come to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who try hard to find him.

Epaphras, who’s from your community and who’s a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He’s always praying hard for you, that you’ll stand firm in the will of God and that you’ll be confident and mature.

Christ is the one we preach about. With all the wisdom we have, we warn and teach everyone so that when we bring them to God, they will be like Christ. We want them to be mature in Christ.

So he gave us new life because of what Christ has done, even when we were dead in our sins. God’s grace has saved you.

After you’ve suffered for a little while, the God of all grace will restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast. He has called you to share in his eternal glory in Christ.

When you were living in your sins and the wrong things you were doing, you were actually dead.

But when what is complete arrives, the things that are not complete will disappear.

In the past, God didn’t judge people for what they didn’t know, but now he commands all people everywhere to turn away from their sins.

Peter replied, “Turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then your sins will be forgiven, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

The rain came down, the water rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, but it didn’t fall, because it was built on a rock.

So be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

That way they will store up true riches for themselves. This will provide a firm basis for the next life so that they can take hold of the life that really is life.

They’re like a person who builds a house by digging down deep and laying its foundation on solid rock. When a flood comes, the river rushes against it, but the house can’t be shaken because it is well built.

However, when we speak to those who are mature in the faith, we do share our wisdom. But it’s not the wisdom of this world or its rulers, who are fading away.

Over all these good things put on love, which holds them all together perfectly as if they were one.
