Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned through suffering what it means to obey.

He appeared on earth as a man, and he humbled himself and obeyed God completely. He did this even though it led to his death. Even worse, he died on a cross!

“My food,” Jesus said, “is to do what my Father sent me to do and to finish his work.

If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love. In the same way, I have obeyed my Father’s commands and I remain in his love.

I haven’t come down from heaven to do my own will; I’ve come to do the will of the one who sent me.

But Christ is faithful over God’s house as his Son. And we are his house, if we hold tightly to our courage and the hope we boast about.

But about the Son he says, “God, your throne will last for ever and ever. You will rule your kingdom with justice and righteousness.

After all, God never said to any of the angels, “You are my Son, today I have become your Father.” Or, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son.”

Jesus answered, “Please agree to this. It’s right for us to do everything that God is asking of people now.” So then John agreed.

But in these last days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God made the universe through him and gave him everything as his inheritance.

No one takes it from me; I give it up myself. I have the authority to give it up, and I have the authority to take it back. This is the command I received from my Father.”
