And who did God swear an oath about, that they would never enter the rest he planned for them? Didn’t he swear that oath about the people who didn’t obey?
And so, my dear friends, as you’ve always obeyed God—not just while I was with you, but even more now that I’m not with you— continue to work out your own salvation. Do it with fear and trembling.
At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived, and controlled by all kinds of wrong desires and pleasures. We were hostile and envious. Other people hated us, and we hated them.
“The Law and the Prophets were preached until John the Baptist came. Since then, the good news of God’s kingdom is being preached, and everyone is trying hard to enter the kingdom.
You were following the ways of this world and serving the one who rules over the spiritual forces of evil. That’s the spirit who’s still at work in those who aren’t obeying God.
Don’t work for food that spoils, but for food that lasts forever. Work for the food that the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has put his seal of approval on him.”
