Jesus also did many other things. If every one of them were written down, I suppose there wouldn’t be enough room in the whole world for the books that would have to be written.

It never came simply because a prophet wanted it to. Instead, the Holy Spirit guided the prophets as they spoke. Although the prophets were human, what they said came from God.

What should we say then? That the law is sinful? Not at all! But I wouldn’t have known what sin was unless the law had told me. The law says, “Do not covet.” If the law hadn’t said that, I wouldn’t have known that wanting what belongs to other people was “coveting,” and that it was wrong.

What should we say that Abraham, the father of our people, discovered about being right with God?

But some people might be thinking about this in a human way and ask, “Doesn’t the fact that we’re wrong prove more clearly that God is right? So how is it fair for God to punish us?”

All this took about 450 years. “After that, God gave them judges until the time of Samuel the prophet.

All the prophets speak about him and say that everyone who believes in him has their sins forgiven through his name.”

“Beginning with Samuel, all the prophets said these days would come.

I want you to remember the words that the holy prophets spoke in the past and the command our Lord and Savior gave through your apostles.

Brothers and sisters, as an example of how to be patient when you suffer, think about the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

What should we say then? Should we keep on sinning so that God’s grace can increase?

“Abraham said to him, ‘If they won’t listen to Moses and the Prophets, they won’t be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ ”

“You will weep and grind your teeth together when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and all the prophets in God’s kingdom while you yourselves are thrown out.

Rejoice and be glad, because you have a great reward in heaven. You’re being treated just the way people treated the prophets who lived long ago.
