The Son is the brilliance of God’s glory and the exact likeness of God’s being. He holds everything together by his powerful word. Once he had provided the way for people to be made pure from sin, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
He didn’t enter by shedding the blood of goats and calves. Instead, he entered the Most Holy Place by shedding his own blood, once and for all time. In that way, he paid the price to set us free from sin forever.
Here’s the main point of what we’re saying: We have just this kind of high priest, who’s sitting at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven.
Every high priest is chosen from among the people and appointed to represent them in things relating to God. He offers gifts and sacrifices for their sins.
Unlike the other high priests, he doesn’t need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins and then for the sins of the people. Instead, Jesus made one sacrifice for the sins of the people, once and for all time, when he offered himself.
So how much cleaner will the blood of Christ make us! He offered himself to God without any flaw through the power of the eternal Holy Spirit. His blood washes away our feelings of guilt for committing sin. Sin always leads to death. But now we can serve the living God.
