Hebrews 10:1Radiate New TestamentThe law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming. It’s not the real things themselves. That’s why the law can never, through the same sacrifices that are repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect the people who come near to worship. See the chapter |
God did what the written law was not able to do, since it was weakened by our sinful desires. God sent his Son to be an offering for sin. He sent him in human form like those who are susceptible to sin. When God did this, he passed judgment against sin so that it could no longer control people through their wrong desires.
If the priests who came from Levi’s family could have made the people perfect by what they did at the temple, then why would another priest have to come who wasn’t in the order of Aaron, but in the order of Melchizedek? The law that was given to the people said that priests had to come from Levi’s family line.
