and envy; drunkenness, wild parties, and many other things like that. I warn you now, as I did before, that people who live like this won’t inherit God’s kingdom.
Let’s act properly, like people living in the daytime. Don’t go to wild parties and don’t get drunk. Don’t do anything immoral or indecent. Don’t get into fights or be jealous of anyone.
So let me clarify in this letter what I meant: You should stay away from anyone who claims to be a believer but who commits sexual sins, or is greedy, or worships idols, or tells lies about others, or gets drunk, or cheats. Don’t even eat with people like that.
Only what is pure will enter the city. No one will enter who does anything that’s shameful or deceitful; only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life will enter.
You’ve spent enough time in the past doing what ungodly people choose to do. You lived a wild life and wanted the wrong things. You got drunk and went to wild parties. You worshiped statues of gods, which is something the Lord hates.
Brothers and sisters, here’s what I’m telling you. Bodies made of flesh and blood can’t inherit the kingdom of God. Things that perish can’t share in what never perishes.
Outside the city are those who are impure, those who practice witchcraft, those who commit sexual sins and murder, those who worship idols, and everyone who loves and does what is false.
“Then the King will speak to those on his right and say, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, take what is yours. Receive the kingdom that has been prepared for you since the world was created.
“Be careful, or your hearts will be loaded down with partying, drunkenness, and the worries of life. Then the day when the Son of Man returns will close on you suddenly like a trap.
