As for these troublemakers who are trying to get everybody else circumcised, I wish they’d go the whole way and cut everything off themselves!

So all of us who are mature in the faith should see things this way. If you think differently about something, God will make that clear to you.

which is not good news at all. It seems that some people have gotten you all confused by twisting the good news about Christ.

I wrote the way I did so that when I came, you wouldn’t make me sad when you’re supposed to make me happy. I was sure that you would all want the same things I wanted.

Hymenaeus and Alexander are two of those people. I’ve handed them over to Satan so that they will learn not to say insulting things about God.

No one should cause me any more trouble after this, because I have marks on body that show I belong to Jesus.

Those people are trying hard to win you over, but not for your own good. They want to separate from us so that you’ll be eager to follow them.

You foolish Galatians! Who cast a spell on you? When I preached, I showed you clearly that Jesus Christ had been nailed to the cross.

The people in Jerusalem who were considered to be important didn’t add anything to my message. (And it didn’t matter to me who they were anyway. God doesn’t see some people as more important than others.)

That question came up because some false believers had slipped in among us to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. They wanted to make us slaves again.

We’ll be ready to punish anyone who still tries to disobey once the whole church has chosen to obey.

hand this man over to Satan. His body may be destroyed, but his spirit will be saved on the day the Lord returns.

We’ve heard that some of our people came and bothered and upset you by things they said. But they came without any authority from us.

I’m confident that you will obey, and so I’m writing to you, knowing that you will do even more than I ask.

We’re confident in the Lord that you’re doing the things we’ve told you to do and that you’ll keep on doing them.

I wish I could be with you now and change my tone of voice. I really don’t know what to do with you.

I’m afraid for you. I’m concerned that somehow I’ve wasted my efforts on you.

That’s why I’m writing these things now, while I’m away. Then when I do come, I won’t have to use my authority and be hard on you. The Lord gave me that authority to build you up, not to tear you down.

When I come to see you, please don’t make me be as severe as I expect I’ll need to be toward some people who think I live in the same way as the people of this world.

We’re also sending another one of our brothers with these two. This man has often proved to us in many ways how committed he is. He’s even more committed now because he has great confidence in you.

I’m glad I can have complete confidence in you.

So from now on we don’t look at anyone from the world’s point of view. Once we even looked at Christ that way, but we don’t anymore.

But when the majority of you decided to punish him, what you did was enough.

Because I was sure of this, I wanted to visit you before I went to Macedonia so that we could see each other twice.

You were running a good race. Who got in your way and kept you from obeying the truth?
