Scripture saw long ago that God would make the Gentiles right with himself by faith. It announced the good news ahead of time to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”
The good news has been preached to us, just as it was to our people of long ago. But the message they heard didn’t do them any good, because they didn’t embrace it by faith when they heard it.
But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised could be given through faith in Jesus Christ to those who believe.
It’s the same with the promises that God made to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture doesn’t say, “and to your seeds.” That would mean many people. It says, “and to your seed.” That means one person—Christ.
The seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven. They said, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will rule for ever and ever.”
In Scripture, God says to Pharaoh, “I had a special reason for making you king. I decided to use you to show my power so that my name would become known everywhere on earth.”
But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son. The slave woman’s son will never share the family property with the free woman’s son.”
