So is the law opposed to God’s promises? Certainly not! If a law had been given that could give life, then people could become right with God by obeying that law.

I don’t regard the grace of God as worthless. If a person could become right with God by obeying the law, then Christ died for nothing!”

The people of Israel tried to become right with God by obeying the law, but that didn’t work.

“Through my experience with the law, I died to the law so that I might live for God.

“But what if, as we seek to be made right with God through Christ, we Jews find ourselves to be sinners? Does that mean that Christ promotes sin? Certainly not!

So then, are we setting the law aside through faith? Not at all! We’re upholding the law.

Not at all! Let God be true, even if every human being is a liar. As it is written, “So that you may be proved right when you speak and the courts may decide in your favor.”

God is fair! If he weren’t, how could he judge the world?

By faith Noah, out of great respect for God, built an ark to save his family after God warned him about things that could not yet be seen. By doing this Noah showed the world that it was guilty, but he was considered right with God because of his faith.

He will come and kill them and give the vineyard to others.” When the people heard this, they said, “We hope this never happens!”

The Law was written in letters on stone. Though it was a way of serving God, it led to death. But that way of serving God was surrounded by glory when it was introduced. The glory lasted for only a short time, but even so, the people of Israel couldn’t look at Moses’ face for very long because of it.

I don’t ever want to brag about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through that cross, the world has been crucified to me and I have been crucified to the world.

The old rule is set aside because it was weak and useless.

The law didn’t make anything perfect, but a better hope has now been given to us, and it brings us near to God.
