At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived, and controlled by all kinds of wrong desires and pleasures. We were hostile and envious. Other people hated us, and we hated them.
At one time we all lived among those things. We followed our wrong desires and thoughts, and we tried to satisfy what they wanted us to do. God was angry with us, as he was with everyone else, because of the kind of people we all were.
That’s why the promise comes by faith, so that it can be based on God’s grace and be guaranteed to all of Abraham’s children. That means not only those who are his children under the law, but also those who are Abraham’s children because have the same faith that he did. He is the father of us all.
“But what if, as we seek to be made right with God through Christ, we Jews find ourselves to be sinners? Does that mean that Christ promotes sin? Certainly not!
