I’m amazed that after such a short time, you’re abandoning the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ. You’re turning to a different “good news”—
If someone comes to you and preaches about a Jesus who’s different from the Jesus we preached about, or a spirit different from the Spirit you received, or a version of the good news that’s different from the one you accepted, you put up with those kinds of things easily enough.
As I told you when I went into Macedonia, I want you to stay there in Ephesus. I need you to command certain people not to teach things that aren’t true and not to spend their time on made-up stories
Other people might be your guardians in Christ, but even if there were 10,000 of them, you still wouldn’t have many fathers. I became your father in Christ Jesus by telling you the good news.
Some of you are trying to be made right with God by obeying the law. As a result, you’ve been separated from Christ and you’ve fallen away from God’s grace.
God has saved us and called us to live a holy life. This isn’t because of anything we’ve done, but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus even before time began.
God made these plans for people to become like his Son, and he called those people to be saved. Then he made those people right with himself, and finally, he them gave his glory.
Unlike many people, we aren’t selling God’s word to make money. It’s just the opposite! Because of Christ, we speak honestly before God, as people God has truly sent.
I went because God showed me that he wanted me to go. I met privately with those who are respected as leaders. I presented to them the good news that I preach among the Gentiles. I wanted to be sure that it wasn’t useless for me to keep presenting the good news that way.
It was just the opposite! They recognized that I had been trusted with the task of preaching the good news to the Gentiles, just as Peter had been trusted with preaching to the Jews.
When I saw that they were not acting consistently with the truth of the good news, I spoke to Peter in front of everyone. I said, “You’re a Jew, but you live like a Gentile, not a Jew. So why are you trying force the Gentiles to follow Jewish ways?
