Let’s act properly, like people living in the daytime. Don’t go to wild parties and don’t get drunk. Don’t do anything immoral or indecent. Don’t get into fights or be jealous of anyone.

because he will become such a great man in Lord’s sight. He must never drink wine or other alcohol. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit before he is even born.

So let me clarify in this letter what I meant: You should stay away from anyone who claims to be a believer but who commits sexual sins, or is greedy, or worships idols, or tells lies about others, or gets drunk, or cheats. Don’t even eat with people like that.

Those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.

But suppose the servant says to himself, ‘My master is taking a long time to come back,’ and he begins to beat the other servants. Suppose that instead of feeding those men and women, he only feeds himself and drinks until he gets drunk.

Even though you are evil, you know how to give good gifts to your children. How much more will your Father who is in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

or thieves or greedy people, or those who are often drunk or tell lies or cheat, will not inherit God’s kingdom.

An elder must be blameless. He must be faithful to his wife, and his children must be believers and not give anyone a reason to say that they’re wild and disobedient.

“Be careful, or your hearts will be loaded down with partying, drunkenness, and the worries of life. Then the day when the Son of Man returns will close on you suddenly like a trap.

As you eat, some of you go ahead and eat your own private meals. Because of this, one person doesn’t get enough to eat, while another gets drunk.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees! You hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but the inside is full of greed and selfishness.

Suppose he then starts to beat the other slaves and to eat and drink with people who drink too much.

and said to him, “Everyone brings out their best wine first, and after the guests have been drinking for a while, then they bring out the cheaper wine. But you’ve saved the best until now.”
