A high priest like him truly meets our needs. He’s holy, blameless, and pure, and he has been lifted up high above the heavens. He’s different from people who sin.
Without question, true godliness comes from this great mystery: Jesus came as a human being, and he was declared right with God by the Holy Spirit. He was seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and taken up in glory.
Here’s the main point of what we’re saying: We have just this kind of high priest, who’s sitting at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven.
Jesus has been given a place of honor at the right hand of God, and he has received the promised Holy Spirit from the Father. It is Jesus who has poured out what you now see and hear.
“Men of Galilee,” they asked, “why are you standing here looking at the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come back just as you saw him go.”
“Let’s not tear it in pieces,” they said to one another. “Let’s cast lots to see who will take it.” This happened so that the Scripture would come true that says, “They divided up my clothes among them, and they cast lots for what I was wearing.” So that’s what the soldiers did.
Jesus said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you. Everything that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must come true.”
