Husbands, love your wives and don’t be mean to them.

Husbands, be understanding of your wives. Treat them with respect, remembering the ways in which they’re physically weaker than you. Honor them as people who will share the gracious gift of life with you. Otherwise, God won’t answer your prayers.

Fathers, don’t make your children bitter. If you do, they’ll lose hope.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

Get rid of all bitterness, anger, rage, fighting, lying, and any kind of hatred.

But the point remains that a husband must also love his wife, just as he loves himself, and a wife must respect her husband.

But if you have bitterness, jealousy, and selfish ambition in your hearts, don’t be proud and pretend you’ve got the truth.

“Anyone who comes to me but doesn’t love me more than their father and mother, their wife and children, their brothers and sisters, and even their own life can’t be my disciple.

“Their mouths are full of curses and bitterness.”
