For this reason, we’ve been praying for you since the day we heard about you. We keep asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives.

Learn how to speak with people graciously, using just the right words. That way you’ll know how to answer everyone.

So don’t be foolish. Instead, understand what the Lord wants.

Is anyone among you in trouble? Then that person should pray. Is anyone among you happy? Then that person should sing songs of praise.

God poured out the Spirit on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, and the Spirit gave us new life.

Brothers and sisters, what should we say then? When you come together, each of you should bring something—a hymn, a teaching, a revelation, a message in another language, or an explanation of what was said in another language. Everything must be done to build up the church.

If any of you needs wisdom, you should ask God for it, and he’ll give it to you. God gives freely to everyone and doesn’t tell them they shouldn’t have asked.

Christ is the one we preach about. With all the wisdom we have, we warn and teach everyone so that when we bring them to God, they will be like Christ. We want them to be mature in Christ.
