The water of the flood is a picture of the way that baptism now saves you too. It doesn’t save you by washing the dirt off your body. Instead, it’s your way of promising God that you’ll keep a clear conscience by the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead.

All of you who were baptized into Christ have put on Christ as if he were new clothes.

But God raised him from the dead. He freed him from the agony of death, because death wasn’t able to keep hold of him.

He suffered on the cross, and then he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

We’ve learned about different ways of becoming clean and about placing hands on people to bless them. We know that people will rise from the dead and that God will judge everyone for eternity.

You’ve been given the privilege, for the sake of Christ, not only of believing in him but also of suffering for him.

That’s why it’s said, “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

I became a servant of this good news through the gift of God’s grace. It came through his power, which was at work in me.

We were all baptized by one Spirit into one body. It didn’t matter whether we were Jews or Gentiles, slaves or free people. We were all given the same Spirit to drink.

My brothers and sisters, when Christ died, you also died, and so you were no longer “married” to the law. Then it became possible for you to belong to Christ instead. He was raised from the dead so that our lives could produce what God wanted.

When they arrived in Antioch, they gathered the church together and told everything that God had done through them. They shared how he had opened a way for the Gentiles to believe.

The apostles said to the Lord, “Help us to have more faith!”

God has raised this same Jesus back to life. We are all witnesses of that.

I work hard for that with all the strength of Christ that works powerfully within me.

At one time you were dead in your sins, and your wrong desires were not circumcised. But God gave you new life together with Christ. He forgave us all our sins
