In those days when the number of disciples was growing, the Greek-speaking Jews complained about the Jews who were native to Judea. They said that their own widows weren’t getting their fair share of the food that was given out each day to those in need.

But even Michael, the leader of the angels, didn’t dare to say anything insulting about the devil. They were arguing about who would get the body of Moses. Michael just said, “May the Lord stop you!”

I’ve had to keep on the move constantly. I’ve been in danger from rivers, in danger from robbers, in danger from my fellow Jews, and in danger from Gentiles. I’ve been in danger in the city, in the country, and at sea. I’ve been in danger from people who pretended they were believers.

But other believers from Cyprus and Cyrene went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also. They told them the good news about the Lord Jesus.

Paul entered the synagogue and spoke boldly there for three months. He gave good reasons for believing the truth about the kingdom of God.

When they arrived at Ephesus, Paul asked Priscilla and Aquila to stay there. He himself went into the synagogue and talked with the Jews.

So he went to the synagogue and talked both with Jews and with Greeks who worshiped God. Each day he also spoke with anyone who happened to be in the marketplace.

But Barnabas brought him to the apostles. He told them how Saul had seen the Lord while on his journey and how the Lord had spoken to him. Barnabas also explained that in Damascus Saul had preached without fear in Jesus’ name.

Dear friends, I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share. But I felt that I had to write and urge you to stand up for the faith that God’s holy people have been trusted with once and for all time.

So Saul stayed with the believers, moving about freely in Jerusalem and speaking boldly in the Lord’s name.

I saw the Lord speaking to me. ‘Quick!’ he said. ‘Leave Jerusalem right now, because the people here aren’t going to accept what you tell them about me.’
