He and all his family believed in God, and they worshiped at the synagogue. He gave freely to people who were in need, and he prayed to God regularly.
Godly Jews from every country in the world were living in Jerusalem.
A good and godly man named Simeon lived there in Jerusalem. He was waiting for God’s promise to Israel to come true, and the Holy Spirit was with him.
Saul had agreed that Stephen should die. On that day an attack began against the church in Jerusalem. The believers, except for the apostles, were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.
But Saul began to destroy the church. He went from house to house and dragged out men and women and put them in prison.
When John’s disciples heard about this, they came and took his body and placed it in a tomb.
