Peter had followed Jesus from a distance, and now he came as close as the courtyard. He went in and sat down with the guards to see what would happen.

He went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and talked with them about how he could hand Jesus over to them.

but when they arrived, they didn’t find them there. So they went back and told their leaders,

Just then someone came in and said, “Look! The men you put in jail are standing in the temple courtyard, teaching the people!”
