A widow who truly needs help and is left all alone puts her hope in God. She keeps on praying night and day and asking God for help.

We’re praying very hard, night and day, that we’ll be able to see you again and provide what you still need for your faith.

so that by God’s grace I can also rise from the dead.

Then you will eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and you will sit on thrones, judging the 12 tribes of Israel.

So be on your guard! Remember that for three years, I never stopped warning each of you as I wept over you night and day.

A good and godly man named Simeon lived there in Jerusalem. He was waiting for God’s promise to Israel to come true, and the Holy Spirit was with him.

I have the same hope in God that these men have themselves. I believe that both good and bad people will rise from the dead.

I know you’re very familiar with their customs and the kinds of things they argue about. Please listen to me patiently.

So I’ve asked to see you and talk with you. I am bound with this chain because I share Israel’s hope.”
