He ordered the officer to keep Paul under guard but to give him some freedom and let his friends to take care of his needs.

Philip was seen next at Azotus. From there he traveled all around, preaching the good news in every town until he arrived in Caesarea.

After two years passed, Porcius Festus became the governor instead of Felix. But Felix wanted to do the Jews a favor, so he left Paul in prison.

Three days after Festus arrived, he went up from Caesarea to Jerusalem.

Some of your leaders can come with me, and if the man has done anything wrong, they can charge him there.”

Festus spent eight or ten days in Jerusalem with them, and then he went down to Caesarea. The next day he called the court together and ordered Paul to be brought before him.

A few days later King Agrippa and Bernice came to Caesarea to welcome Festus.

“I told them that’s not the way Romans do things. We don’t judge anyone before they’ve had the chance to face the people bringing charges against them and answer for themselves.
